The Life Science Manufacturers Association (LSMA), MedTech Europe, and VDGH are urgently calling on the European Commission to delay proposed changes to EU Implementing Regulation 2021/632 concerning border controls on animal-origin products.

The associations warn that expanding the scope without sufficient consultation and preparation will lead to mandatory border inspections that are not fit for purpose, causing substantial disruption to the EU’s Life Sciences ecosystem. This, in turn, threatens the supply of essential products—ranging from vaccine components to critical diagnostic devices—directly impacting patient care, public health systems, and food safety across the EU. We urge the Commission to consult with industry to find a practical solution.
